Tie a knot 2 metres (7 ft) from the end to be spliced to stop the core slipping back up the rope. There is another splice for 100 polyester double braids. A lock splice may also be used if desired. *I used ¼ in rope and made sure to bury 6” of the tail to finish off the Brummel loop. The extra 6” is needed for the buried portions of rope.įirst, take one end of the Dyneema or Amsteel rope and make a Brummel loop. Just do a locking brummel each end and bury a 6inch tail with a nice taper, pull the core back through the cover, whip and then dip the eyes in whip and dip or similar. Both a locking brummel and a class 2 are ok for 8mm beeline but if you are making an eye to eye hitch cord you wont have the length to do a full 2 fid length bury as per the class 2 splice. I have found a better design for an adjustable saddle bridge. Working with Dyneema or Amsteel braided synthetic rope is proving to be very useful for someone just getting into saddle hunting.
